CHAPTER 212

An Act to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered
17-187.5 to provide an additional judge for the Hustings Court of the
city of Portsmouth.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia be amended by adding a section numbered
17-137.5, as follows:

§ 17-137.5. On and after July one, nineteen hundred sixty-four,
there shall be an additional judge for the Hustings Court of the city of
Portsmouth. Such judge shall reside within the corporate limits of the
city, and his compensation, powers, duties and jurisdiction shall be the
same as are now or may be hereafter conferred or imposed upon corpo-
ration or hustings courts and the judges thereof by general law or
statutes applicable to the city. The office shall be filled in the same man-
ner as provided in § 17-137.1, and thereafter as provided by general law.
2. An emergency exists and this act is in force from its passage.
