An Act to amend Chapter 216 of the Acts of Assembly of 1962, approved
March 9, 1962, being the charter of the town of Manassas Park, in
Prince William County, by adding sections numbered 4-a and 10,
relating, respectively, to holding of certain town offices by persons
accepting or holding offices, trusts, posts or emoluments under the
United States Government, and to appointment and jurisdiction of
justices of the peace; and to validate certain elections or TOOT eal

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That Chapter 216 of the Acts of Assembly of 1962, approved March
9, 1962, be amended by adding sections numbered 4-a and 10, as follows:
§ 4a. No person, otherwise eligible, shall be disqualified or incapable
of acting, by reason of his accepting or holding an office, post, trust or
emolument under the Government of the United States, as mayor, council-
man, Officer or employee of the town, or as a member, officer or employee
of any town board or commission, including the school board. This section
shall not be construed to apply to members of the armed services of the
United States of America.
§ There shall be appointed by the Council of the town of
Manassas Park, two justices of the peace, who need not be residents of
the town, who shall serve at the pleasure of the Council. Such justices
of the peace shall be clothed with all the powers and authority of other
justices of the peace under general law. Their jurisdiction shall encompass
ihe mits of the town of Manassas Park and in addition, one mile outside
ereof.
2. All elections or appointments, heretofore held or made, pursuant to
the provisions of this act, are hereby validated.
An emergency exists and this act is in force from its passage.
