CHAPTER 141
An Act to authorize the School Board of Franklin County to convey
certain real estate to Franklin County; to authorize the county of
Franklin to convey or lease the said real estate. rH 387]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia :
1. § 1. The Franklin County School Board is authorized to convey the
land, buildings, and appurtenances thereon, known and designated as the
old Ferrum Elementary School, located in Blue Ridge Magisterial District,
Franklin County, Virginia, to Franklin County for a sum approved by the
Franklin County School Board; and, the governing body of Franklin
County is authorized and empowered to convey, under such terms and
conditions as the board of supervisors shall deem advisable, either by fee
simple gift or sale, or long-term lease, any or all of the said old Ferrum
Elementary School land, buildings, and appurtenances, to a nonprofit, char-
itable corporation to be ‘used and operated by said corporation as a “Home
for the Aged”, or “Nursing or Convalescent Home”, or “Rest Home’ for
the care and maintenance of aged, infirm, chronically ill, or incapacitated
elderly persons, or such other charitable purposes as may be deemed
proper by the governing body of said county. The governing body is fur-
ther authorized to execute the instruments necessary to exercise the
powers herein given.
2. An emergency exists and this act is in force from its passage.
