An Act to amend and reenact §§ 17-57 and 17-58 of the Code of Vir-
ginia, relating to reports by clerks of courts of record. <

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That §§ 17-57 and 17-58 of the Code of Virginia be amended and re-
enacted as follows:
§ 17-57. The clerk of each court of record in this State, within fifteen
days from the end of each calendar month, shall make to the Supreme
Court of Appeals at Richmond a report of the business disposed of by
his court during the month just ended. The report herein provided for
shall contain such information as the Supreme Court of Appeals deems
proper to enable it to gain a fair knowledge of the business of the several
courts of the State.
The * executive secretary of the Supreme Court of Appeals shall fur-
nish the clerks of the courts herein mentioned with a form upon which
the reports provided for shall be made.
The reports shall be so filed and arranged in the office of the * execu-
tive secretary of the Supreme Court of Appeals that the General Assembly
or any other body or officer of this State may have access thereto.
§ 17-58. The * executive secretary of the Supreme Court of Appeals
at Richmond, at the direction of the court, shall report every clerk who
fails to make the report mentioned in the preceding section to the judge
of his court. Any clerk so failing shall, unless good cause for such failure
be shown, be fined not exceeding fifty dollars.
