An Act to amend and reenact § 28-35.9, as amended, of the Code of
Virginia, relating to the value of nursing scholarships.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That § 23-35.9, as amended, of the Code of Virginia, be amended
and reenacted as follows:
§ 23-35.9. There are established eight annual scholarships for each
congressional district of the value of * two hundred * dollars. These
awards shall be made by the State Board of Health and the recipients
of four of such scholarships shall be required to attend an accredited
nursing school in their respective districts provided such schools are
available and the student can receive admission thereto. The recipients
of the remaining four such scholarships as well as the recipients of any
scholarship in a district where no accredited nursing school is available,
or where the student is not able to secure admission shall be allowed
to attend any accredited nursing school in this State. If any of the above
created scholarships for any congressional district are not awarded for
any year they shall be awarded from the State at large.
There are established twenty annual nursing scholarships for Negroes
to be awarded from the State at large of the value of * two hundred *
dollars. These awards shall be made by the State Board of Health and
the recipients of such scholarships shall be allowed to attend any accredited
Negro nursing school in this State.
