An Act to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered 14-8.1,
relating to compensation of certain officers. CH 39]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

l. That the Code of Virginia be amended by adding a section numbered
14-8.1, as follows:

§ 14-8.1. Notwithstanding any other provisions of this title, the gov-
arning body of any county having a population of more than four thousand
yer square mile may, in its discretion, supplement the compensation of
he treasurer, clerk, commissioner of the revenue, attorney for the Com-
nonwealth and sheriff of such county, or any of their employees, above the
salary of any such officer or employee established in this title, in such
mounts as it may deem expedient. Such additional compensation shall be
vholly payable from the funds of any such county and shall not exceed
ne-half of the amount of participation by the State in the amount of the
alary of the officer or employee.
