CHAPTER 48

An Act to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered
58-57.1, relating to the authority of the Director of the Department
of Welfare and Institutions to permit convicts to assist in medical
research programs.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia be amended by adding a section numbered
53-57.1, as follows:

§ 53-57.1. The Director may permit, under regulations prescribed
by the State Board, such prisoner or prisoners as may volunteer to undergo
experimental treatment or tests in State or federal medical research

programs.
