An Act for the relief of Henry N. Harmon.

Whereas, one Henry N. Harmon, was on duty for the Virginia State
Police in Pittsylvania County, on the night of January ten, nineteen
sixty, at which time he arrested one Handy Hall on the charge of
operating a motor vehicle under the influence of intoxicants; and
Vhereas, the said Handy Hall shot Trooper Harmon in the back of
the neck, thereby causing him to become completely paralyzed and totally
disabled; and
Whereas, the family of Trooper Harmon is unable to bear the financial
burden of his extensive medical bills; and
Whereas, medical bills in the amount of three thousand one hundred
thirty dollars and twenty four cents, are due and owing as of this time,
which bills are directly related to the medical treatment and rehabilitation
of Trooper Harmon since his tragic injury in line of duty; now, therefore,
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. § 1. The State Treasurer, on warrant of the Comptroller, shall pay
out of the special funds in the State Treasury for the construction and
maintenance of State highways, the sum of three thousand one hundred
thirty dollars and twenty four cents to Mrs. Henry N. Harmon, upon exe-
cution of a release of any and all claims she may have against the Com-
monwealth or any employee thereof arising out of the aforesaid injury to
her husband, Henry N. Harmon.
