An Act to amend and reenact § 18.1-21 of the Code of Virginia, defining
murder of the first degree and of the second degree.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
te That § 18.1-21 of the Code of Virginia be amended and reenacted as
ollows:
§ 18.1-21. Murder by poison, lying in wait, imprisonment, starving,
or by any wilful, deliberate, and premeditated killing, or in the commis-
sion of, or attempt to commit, abduction as defined in § 18.1-88, arson,
rape, robbery or burglary is murder of the first degree. All other murder
is murder of the second degree.
