CHAPTER 353
An Act to authorize the Governor and Attorney General to execute, in
the name of the Commonwealth, a deed conveying to the trustees of
Glen Allen Post No. 244 of the American Legion, Department of
Virginia, certain real estate in Henrico County, Virginia. 3 2083

Whereas, in the year nineteen hundred fifty-six the Commonwealth
of Virginia acquired by deed from Glen Allen Post No. 244 of the Ameri-
can Legion, Department of Virginia, a one-half undivided interest in
certain real estate in Henrico County for the purpose of using facilities
of the said American Legion Post thereon from time to time for Virginia
National Guard activities in lieu of an armory; and
Whereas, the costs of maintenance, utilities, replacement and depre-
ciation have been borne solely by the said American Legion Post; and
Whereas, the Virginia National Guard now has adequate armory
facilities in the Glen Allen locale and has no further requirements with
regard to the said American Legion facilities; now, therefore,
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. § 1. The Governor and the Attorney General are hereby authorized
in consideration of the premises and the payment of the sum of one dollar
to execute, in the name of the Commonwealth, a proper deed of convey-
ance, under the lesser seal of the Commonwealth, conveying unto the
trustees of Glen Allen Post No. 244 of the American Legion, Department
of Virginia, all right, title and interest which the Commonwealth of
Virginia might have in and to the following described property:
All that certain lot, piece or parcel of land, lying and being in Brook-
acres and bounded and described as follows:
land Magisterial District in the County of Henrico and containing 4.75
Beginning on the north line of Lambeth Road at a point with the
western line of Lot 25 and thence running along the northern line of
the said Lambeth Road in a westerly direction 400 feet to a corner on
the eastern line of Lot 23; thence back northwardly between parallel lines
512.29 feet to a corner; thence eastwardly along the line of the Trevett
property 400.10 feet; thence in a southerly direction along the western
line of Lot 25, 521.66 feet to the point of beginning, and being designated
as Lot No. 24 on the revised plan of Glen Allen Heights, plat of said plan
being recorded in the Clerk’s Office of the Circuit Court of the County
of Henrico in Plat Book 17, pages 1 and 2; excepted from this convey-
ance, however, is that portion of Lot 24 beginning at a point on
the northern line of Lambeth Road 34 feet East of the western line of
Lot 24; thence running North 14 degrees 46 minutes East 513.09 feet
to the northern.line of said Lot 24; thence running South 76 degrees 34
minutes 30 seconds east along this line fifty feet; thence running South
14 degrees 46 minutes West 514.26 feet to the northern line of Lambeth
Road; thence running North 75 degrees 14 minutes West along Lambeth
Road 50 feet ; being the portion of said lot which is conveyed to the County
of Henrico for the purpose of extending Winston Boulevard. Being the
same property conveyed by the trustees of Glen Allen Post No. 244 of
the American Legion, Department of Virginia, to the Commonwealth of
Virginia by deed dated March twenty-three, nineteen hundred fifty-six,
and recorded April twenty-seven, nineteen hundred fifty-six, in the Clerk’s
Office of the Circuit Court of Henrico County, Virginia.
