An Act to amend and reenact § 65-14 of the Code of Virginia, relating to
the appointment of deputies to the Industrial Commission of Virginia,
to define their powers, and delete the provisions that testimony be
transmitted to the Commission.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
an That § 65-14 of the Code of Virginia be amended and reenacted as
ollows:
§ 65-14. The Commission, subject to the provisions of Chapter 9 of
Title 2, may appoint deputies, who, in such cases as the Commission may
deem proper, shall have the power to subpoena witnesses, * administer
oaths, * take testimony * and hear the parties at issue and their repre-
sentatives and witnesses and decide the issues in a summary manner, and
make an award carrying out the decision. The Commission, subject as
aforesaid, shall fix the compensation of such deputies.
