[S 103]
Approved March 30, 1962
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. § 1. From funds provided by law, the State Library Board is hereby
directed to have prepared and erected, in commemoration of the Leedstown
Resolutions, an historical marker, near the former port of Leedstown,
bearing substantially the following inscription:
LEEDSTOWN
Here, at the then thriving port of Leedstown on February 27, 1766,
ten years before the Declaration of Independence, the Leedstown Resolu-
tions were drawn. These “Articles”, a protest against the Stamp Act and
a pledge of mutual aid in event of its execution, were signed by one
hundred fifteen men from Westmoreland and the surrounding counties.
