An Act to authorize the Governor and Attorney General to execute, in
the name of the Commonwealth, a deed conveying to Scott County
American Legion Post No. 65, Inc., or to such corporation or legally
qualified individuals entitled to receive same, certain real estate in
Scott County, Virginia.

Whereas, in the year nineteen hundred fifty-four the Commonwealth
of Virginia acquired by deed from Scott County American Legion Post
No. 65, Inc., a one-fourth undivided interest in certain real estate in
Scott County for the purpose of using facilities of the said American
Legion Post thereon from time to time for Virginia National Guard
activities in lieu of an armory; and
Whereas, the costs of maintenance, utilities, replacement and de-
preciation have been borne solely by the said American Legion Post; and
Whereas, the Virginia National Guard now has adequate armory
facilities in the Scott County locale and has no further requirements
with regard to the said American Legion Facilities; now, therefore,
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. § 1. The Governor and the Attorney General are hereby authorized
in consideration of the premises and the payment of the sum of one
dollar to execute, in the name of the Commonwealth, a proper deed of
conveyance, under the lesser seal of the Commonwealth, conveying unto
Scott County American Legion Post No. 65, Inc., or to such corporation
or legally qualified individuals entitled to receive same, all right, title
and interest which the Commonwealth of Virginia might have in and
to the following described property:
All that certain tract or parcel of real estate situate in Estillville
Magisterial District, Scott County, Virginia, near Moccasin Gap, more
particularly bounded and described as follows:
Beginning at a corner on bluff on the south side of Big Moccasin
Creek; thence with Bushelman deed line N 48° 25’ W 766 feet: thence
N 31° 0’ W 95.58 feet to the southwest corner of Baltic Road at inter-
section with 30 foot road leading from U. S. Highway No. 23: thence
N 58° 0Y E 5384 feet with east corner of Lot No. 7 in Bushelman Sub-
division; thence with Subdivision line S 31° 51’ E 645 feet crossing
Big Moccasin Creek to a point in said south line of Bushelman property ;
thence with said south line S 29° 80’ W 346 feet to the beginning, con-
taining 7.28 acres, more or less.
Being the same real estate conveyed by Scott County American
Legion Post No. 65, Inc., to the Commonwealth of Virginia by deed
dated November thirty, nineteen hundred fifty-four, and recorded Jan-
uary twenty-four, nineteen hundred fifty-five, in the Clerk’s Office of the
Circuit Court of Scott County, Virginia, in Deed Book No. one hundred
sixty-six, page four hundred three.
