CHAPTER 225

An Act to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered
18.1-288.1, providing a penalty for giving certain false information to
another by telephone.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia be amended by adding a section numbered
18.1-238.1 as follows:

§ 18.1-238.1. If any person maliciously advises or informs another
over any telephone in this State of the death of, accident to, injury to,
illness of, or disappearance of some third party, knowing the same to be
false, he shall be guilty of a misdemeanor.
