An Act to authorize the Governor on behalf of the State to convey certain
property to the city of Norfolk. rH 816}

Whereas, the city of Norfolk, Virginia, has heretofore conveyed cer-
tain property to the Commonwealth by deed dated January seventeen,
nineteen hundred sixty and recorded in the office of the Clerk of the Cor-
poration Court of the City of Norfolk, Virginia, in Deed Book 838, said
conveyance being made for the purpose of providing land for the construc-
tion of an armory thereon; it now appears that the Commonwealth does
not require all of said property for such purposes and it appears proper to
return the unneeded portion thereof to the city of Norfolk; now, therefore,
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1, § 1. The Governor is hereby authorized to convey to the city of Nor-
folk, Virginia, all right, title and interest in and to: All that certain piece
or parcel of land containing 2.324 acres situate, lying and being in the
city of Norfolk, Virginia and being more particularly bounded and de-
scribed as follows:
Beginning at a point in the present southern line of Virginia Beach
Boulevard (U.S. Rt. No. 58) distant 349.37 feet westwardly from the in-
tersection of the prolongation eastwardly of the southern line of Virginia
Beach Boulevard with the prolongation northwardly of the western line
of Anna Street as shown on the plat attached hereto and made a part
hereof entitled “Plat Showing Proposed Site for National Guard Armory,
Scale 1” — 100’, August, 1960, Division of Surveys, Department of Public
Works, Norfolk, Virginia”; thence along the western line of a drainage
easement, which varies in width, the following 10 courses and distances:
Said courses being the easternmost line of the property conveyed to the
Commonwealth of Virginia by deed dated January 17, 1960 and recorded
in the Office of the Clerk of the Corporation Court of the City of Norfolk,
Virginia in Deed Book 838, page 38:—S 67° 21’ 15” E, 111.97 feet; S
38° 51’ 15” E, 76.37 feet; S 40° 01’ 35” E, 84.03 feet: S 23° 00’ 15” EB,
158.84 feet; S 40° 55’ 35” E, 181.28 feet: S 49° 04’ 25” W, 13.65 feet:
S 54° 55’ 35” E, 128.85 feet; S 12° 36’ 00” E, 94.18 feet: S 26° 24’ 00” W,
232.99 feet; and S 18° 36’ 00” E, 273.08 feet to the approximate centerline
of marsh in Broad Creek; thence along said line S 84° 26’ 06” W, 72.60
feet; thence continuing along said line S 37° 10’ 52” W, 4.02 feet; thence
along a line parallel to the eastern line of the property conveyed by the
above mentioned deed and distant 75.00 feet westwardly therefrom as
measured at right angles thereto, the following 10 courses and distances:
N 13° 36’ 00” W, 292.77 feet; N 26° 24’ 00” E, 233.73 feet; N 12° 36’ 00”
W, 38.54 feet; N 54° 55’ 35” W, 118.51 feet: N 49° 04’ 25” E, 15.95 feet;
N 40° 55’ 35” W, 193.11 feet; N 23° 00’ 15” W, 159.44 feet; N 40° 01’ 35”
W, 73.57 feet; N 38° 51’ 15” W, 58.09 feet and N 67° 21’ 15” W, 194.11
feet to the southern line of Virginia Beach Boulevard (U.S. Rt. No. 58);
thence along said line N 76° 05’ 55” EK, 125.95 feet to the point of beginning.
The foregoing property being a portion of that property heretofore
conveyed to the Commonwealth for the purpose of erecting an armory
thereon and said portion being authorized to be reconveyed hereunder not
being required for such purposes.
§ 2. The deed conveying the aforesaid property shall be prepared
by the Attorney General and shall contain such covenants as may be
appropriate under the circumstances.
