CHAPTER 158
An Act to authorize the Governor and the Attorney General to convey,
in the name of the Commonwealth, certain beach lands, abutting on
the Atlantic Ocean in Seaboard Magisterial District, Princess Anne
County, Virginia, to the United States of America.

Whereas, the United States of America owns certain lands abutting
on the high water line of the Atlantic Ocean in Seaboard Magisterial Dis-
trict, Princess Anne County, Virginia, which said lands are presently used
by the United States Navy for national defense purposes; and
Whereas, in the furtherance of such purposes, the United States has
a requirement for that area of beach lands abutting on its said property
and lying between the high water line and the low water line of the
Atlantic Ocean; and
Whereas, it is in the public interest that the Commonwealth so convey
its title to such beach lands to the United States of America, subject tc
the right of reversion, as hereinafter provided, and subject to the Juris-
dictional and other limitations and reservations contained in § 7-19 of the
Code of Virginia, notwithstanding anything to the contrary contained in
§ 7-25 of the Code of Virginia; now, therefore,
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. § 1. The Governor and the Attorney General are hereby authorized
to convey, in the name of the Commonwealth of Virginia, and deliver to
the United States of America, a proper deed of conveyance, under the
lesser seal of the Commonwealth, conveying, subject to the jurisdictional
and other limitations and reservations contained in § 7-19 of the Code of
Virginia, notwithstanding anything to the contrary contained in § 7-25
of the Code of Virginia, all of its right, title and interest in and to the
following described property:
All that certain strip, piece or parcel of land lying and being situate
in Seaboard Magisterial District in Princess Anne County, Virginia,
forming a part of the beach of the Atlantic Ocean, being more particu-
larly bounded and described as follows:
Beginning at a point on the high water line of the Atlantic Ocean
forming the southeastern corner of lands of the United States of America,
acquired by condemnation proceedings in Miscellaneous 6730 on November
4, 1941, and presently identified as a part of the Fleet Anti-Air Warfare
Training Center, Dam Neck, Virginia; thence northerly and following the
meanderings of the mean high water line of the Atlantic Ocean, which
said line forms the easterly boundary of the aforesaid lands of the United
States of America, 9885.14 feet, more or less, to a point forming the
northeastern corner of that 60.6-acre tract acquired by the United States
of America by condemnation proceedings in Miscellaneous 6840 on 29
May, 1943; thence S 86° 10’ E and bounding on other lands of the United
States of America to the mean low water line of the Atlantic Ocean;
thence southerly and following the meanderings of the mean low water
line of the Atlantic Ocean 9885.14 feet, more or less, to a point; thence
westerly to the point of beginning, comprising 14 acres, more or less.
§2. In the event that the Dam Neck Installation of the United States
Fleet Air Defense Training Center is abandoned, transferred or sold to
any other governmental agency or to any private interest, then the said
grant shall be vacated, and the land shall revert to the Commonwealth of
Virginia.
2. An emergency exists and this act is in force from its passage.
