An Act to amend and reenact § 54-1, as amended, of the Code of Virginia,
relating to filing examinations given by certain State agencies.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That § 54-1, as amended, of the Code of Virginia, be amended and
reenacted as follows:
§ 54-1. Every State agency except the Board of Medical Examiners,
the State Board for the Examination and Certification of Architects,
Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors and the Board of Veterinary
Examiners authorized at any time to conduct examinations of applicants
for admission to practice or pursue any profession, vocation, trade, calling
or art shall file a copy of each examination within a period of ten days
after it is given with the Secretary of the Commonwealth where it shall
be lodged and preserved for a period of at least one year as a public
record accessible to any person desiring to examine it during usual busi-
ness hours; provided, however, that if the same examination is also given
outside of the State of Virginia, a copy of such examination need not be
filed until ten days after the date on which it was last given anywhere. A
copy of the examinations given by the Board of Medical Examiners, the
State Board for the Examination and Certification of Architects, Pro-
fessional Engineers and Land Surveyors and the Board of Veterinary
Examiners shall be filed, respectively, with the Secretary of the Board
of Medical Examiners, the Secretary of the State Board for the Examina-
tion and Certification of Architects, Professional Engineers and Land
Surveyors and the Secretary of the Board of Veterinary Examiners within
ten days after the giving of the examination, which shall be accessible to
any candidate who took the examination or his authorized representative.
After the expiration of one year from the time of the filing of each copy
the Secretary of the Commonwealth may withdraw and destroy it.
