CHAPTER 124
An Act to amend and reenact § 4 of Chapter 163 of the Acts of Assembly
of 1926, approved March 17, 1926, which provided a charter for the
town of Shenandoah, and to amend said chapter by adding a section
numbered 4.1, the amended and new sections relating, respectively, to
the election and terms of the mayor and members of council.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That § 4 of Chapter 163 of the Acts of Assembly of nineteen hun-
dred twenty-six, approved March seventeen, nineteen hundred twenty-six,
be amended and reenacted and that said chapter be amended by adding
a section numbered 4.1, as follows:
§ 4. The mayor * shall be elected on the second Tuesday in June,
nineteen hundred and twenty-seven, and every two years thereafter, and
shall hold office for two years from the first day of September next suc-
ceeding * his election.
§ 4.1. Six councilmen shall be elected on the second Tuesday in June,
nineteen hundred sixty-three, and shall hold office from the first day of
September next succeeding their election for the following terms: the
three candidates for councilman receiving the largest number of votes
shall hold office for terms of four years each, and the three candidates for
councilman receiving the next highest number of votes shall hold office
for terms of two years each; and each two years thereafter, three coun-
cilmen shall be elected to hold office for terms of four years from the first
day of September next succeeding their election.
2. An emergency exists and this act is in force from its passage.
