CHAPTER 123

An Act to amend and reenact § 111, as amended, of Chapter 351 of the
Acts of Assembly of 1916, approved March 20, 1916, which provided
a charter for the Town of Crewe, the section relating to taxes.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That § 111, as amended, of Chapter three hundred fifty-one of the
Acts of Assembly of nineteen hundred sixteen, approved March twenty,
nineteen hundred sixteen, be amended and reenacted as follows:

§ 111. * The town council may raise annually by taxes and assess-
ments on property, persons and other subjects of taxation, which are not
prohibited by general law, such sums of money as in the judgment of the
town council are necessary to pay the debts, defray the expenses, accom-
plish the purposes and perform the functions of the town, in such manner
as the town council deems necessary or expedient.
2. An emergency exists and this act is in force from its passage.
