An Act to require the State Library Board to have prepared and erected
in appropriate locations within the city of Staunton historical mark-
ers, respectively, commemorating the Virginia School for the Deaf and
the Blind, and Mary Baldwin College. @ 260

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
§ 1. The State Library Board is hereby directed to have prepared
and erected prior to January one, nineteen hundred sixty-one, in commem-
oration of the Virginia School for the Deaf and the Blind, an historical
marker on an appropriate location, to be determined by the Board, in the
City of Staunton, bearing substantially the following inscription:
THE VIRGINIA SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF AND THE BLIND
FOUNDED 1839
A State residential school created by an Act of the General Assembly
of the Commonwealth of Virginia on March 31, 1838 for the purpose of
educating the deaf and the blind children of the State.
§ 2. The State Library Board is further directed to have prepared
and erected prior to such date, in commemoration of Mary Baldwin College,
an historical marker in an appropriate location in the city of Staunton,
bearing an appropriate inscription to be determined by the Board.
