An Act for the relief of certain students who attended Mary Washington
College of the University of Virginia in the session of 1957-58. 9

Whereas, in the session of 1957-58 a water pipe in certain dormitories
of Mary Washington College of the University of Virginia burst, allowing
water to escape into the rooms in said dormitories and such water dam-
aged the property of certain students residing in such dormitories; and
Whereas, the aforesaid damage amounted to three hundred seventy-
five dollars and sixteen cents, which was the value of certain clothing,
suitcases and other property which was watermarked, rusted, warped, and
otherwise irreparably damaged and it is only meet and proper that the
Commonwealth should reimburse the students whose property was so
damaged, therefore,
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. The Chancellor of Mary Washington College of the University of
Virginia shall draw vouchers upon the appropriation to such college in
favor of the following persons in the amounts described:

Such vouchers shall be converted to checks in favor of Dale Gillies, Susie
Heslep, Patricia Kenny, Mary Hall Richardson, Margot Soltis, Patricia
anne Burke, Ellen Dunne, and Meredith Mayer in the manner prescribed
y law.
Each of the aforesaid individuals shall execute a release in favor of the
Commonwealth and the College, releasing them from any and all liability of
whatsoever nature, legal, moral, or otherwise, for the damage done the
property in such dormitories by water escaping from the aforesaid broken
pipe.
