CHAPTER 348

An Act to amend the Code of Virginia by adding thereto a new section
numbered 51-111.41:1, relating to the crediting to a member of the
retirement system of certain prior periods of service. rit 3901

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia be amended by adding thereto a new section
numbered 51-111.41:1 as follows:

§ 51-111.41:1. Any member of the retirement system in service who
has held office as a justice of the peace prior to becoming a member of the
retirement system and who was during such period devoting full time to
the office, not being otherwise employed, or self-employed, may be credited
with such period of service, provided that such member is a member under
an agreement for coverage as provided in Article 4 of Chapter 3.2 of this
Title, and the requirements therein for crediting prior service have been
complied with, and further provided § 51-111.36 (b) shall not apply.
