CHAPTER 296

An Act to amend and reenact § 18.1-204, as amended, of the Code of
Virginia, relating to purpose of formation of nonstock corporattons.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That § 13.1-204, as amended, of the Code of Virginia, be amended and
reenacted as follows:

§ 13.1-204. Corporations may be organized under this Act for any
lawful purpose or purposes, unless a statute requires the corporation to
issue shares or unless one of the purposes is to conduct the business of a
transportation or transmission company or of a gas, electric light, heat or
power company or to furnish water *.
