An Act to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered
58-198.1, providing for the jurisdiction of courts as to offenses com-
mitted by jail farm prisoners.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia be amended by adding a section numbered
53-198.1 as follows:
§ 53-198.1. Whenever any such farm is situated beyond the limits
of the city establishing and maintaining the same, the courts of such city
shall have concurrent criminal jurisdiction with the courts of the county
or city in which such farm, or any part thereof, is situated of all offenses
(a) committed within the boundaries of such farm by persons confined
thereto during the terms of their confinements, and (b) as to the offenses
of (i) escape, (ii) larceny of or willful damage or destruction of property
owned by the city establishing and maintaining such farm, and (iii)
offenses against the person or property of any employee of such city, com-
mitted en route between such farm and any other point by any person
subject to confinement at such farm, while being transported thereto for
confinement or being transported therefrom following confinement, the
courts of such city shall have concurrent criminal jurisdiction with the
courts of the county or city in which any such offense is committed.
