An Act to repeal §§ 25.08 and 25.04 and to amend and reenact § 25.07
of Chapter 141 of the Acts of Assembly of 1958, approved March 8,
1958, which chapter provided a charter for the consolidated city of
Newport News, the sections relating to the clerks’ offices of the
courts of record.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That §§ 25.08 and 25.04 of Chapter 141 of the Acts of Assembly of
1958, approved March 3, 1958, are repealed, and that § 25.07 of the afore-
said chapter be amended and reenacted as follows:
§ 25.07. Commencing on July 1, 1958, * the clerk’s office of the
Circuit Court, Part Two, of the consolidated city shall be and hereby is
designated as the clerk’s office of the consolidated city in which is to be
recorded all of the documents authorized or required to be recorded by
Article 3 and Article 3.1 of Chapter 2 of Title 17 of the Code of Virginia,
1950, as amended, in accordance with the manner therein set forth. * Pro-
vided, however, that the council of the consolidated city, on the advice of
the clerks of the courts of record, approved by the judges en banc of the
courts of record, may designate specific clerks’ offices for the recordation
of different classes of documents.
2. An emergency exists and this act is in force from its passage.
