An Act to amend and reenact § 1, as amended, of Chapter 506 of the Acts
of Assembly of 1950, approved April 7, 1950, which was incorporated
by reference by § 18-147.1 of the Code of Virginia, relating to the
carrying of loaded firearms on highways in certain counties. rH 5]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That § 1, as amended, of Chapter 506 of the Acts of Assembly of
1950, approved April 7, 1950, which was incorporated by reference by
§ 18-147.1 of the Code of Virginia, be amended and reenacted as follows:
§ 1. In any county having a population in excess of three thousand
five hundred but not in excess of four thousand and in any county having
a population in excess of four thousand five hundred but not in excess of
four thousand seven hundred, and in any county having a population in
excess of twenty-one thousand two hundred but not in excess of twenty-one
thousand three hundred, and in any county having a population of more
than thirteen thousand but less than fourteen thousand, and in any county
having a population in excess of twelve thousand three hundred but not in
excess of twelve thousand seven hundred, it shall be unlawful for any
person to carry or have in his possession while on any part of a public
highway a loaded firearm when such person is not authorized to hunt on
the private property on both sides of the highway along which he is
standing or walking. Any person violating any provision of this act shall
be fined not less than ten dollars nor more than fifty dollars.
2. An emergency exists and this act is in force from its passage.
