An Act to amend and reenact § 54-446 of the Code of Virginia, relating
to certain criminal penalties.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That § 54-446 of the Code of Virginia, be amended and reenacted as
follows:

§ 54-446. Any person who shall violate any provision of this article
shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof for
the first offense shall be fined not more than * five hundred dollars, or
shall be imprisoned in jail not exceeding six months, or both, at the Lis.
cretion of the jury or the court hearing the case; and upon conviction of
a second offense shall be fined not more than one thousand dollars, or shall
be imprisoned in jail not exceeding * twelve months, or both, at the dis-
cretion of the court.
