CHAPTER 634
AN ACT to authorize the board of supervisors of Essex County to transfer
and convey to the trustees of Beale Memorial Baptist Church a parcel
of land owned by the county and constituting a part of the “Court
Green” in the town of Tappahannock, in exchange for two parcels of
land adjacent to the “Court Green” in the town of Tappahannock, and
owned by the said church. 18. 840)

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. Notwithstanding any other provisions of law, the board of supervisors
of Essex County is hereby authorized to transfer and convey to the trustees
of Beale Memorial Baptist Church, in fee simple, a parcel of land contain-
ing twenty-three hundred seventy square feet, more or less, which land
now constitutes a part of the “Court Green” in the town of Tappahannock,
and upon which a jail has been constructed, in exchange for two parcels of
land in the town of Tappahannock, being adjacent to the Essex County
“Court Green”, containing twenty-eight hundred and eight square feet,
more or less, and owned by the said church. The exact metes and bounds
of the property to be exchanged may be determined by the board of super-
visors of Essex County, which is further authorized to fix the terms upon
which such exchange, transfer and conveyance shall be effected.
2. An emergency exists and this act is in force from its passage.
