CHAPTER 611
AN ACT to amend and reenact §§ 52-28 and 52-24 of the Code of Virginia,
relating to appointment by the Governor of investigators and tem-
porary special police officers and their compensation.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That §§ 52-28 and 52-24 of the Code of Virginia be amended and
reenacted as follows:
§ 52-23.—The Governor may appoint whenever he deems the same
necessary, and may remove at will, investigators and temporary special
police officers, who shall be directly responsible to the Governor, be con-
servators of the peace and have jurisdiction throughout the State in the
enforcement of the * laws of the State. Such investigators and special
police officers shall have in all the counties, cities and towns of the State
all the power and authority, in connection with the enforcement of the *
laws of the State, vested by law in sheriffs of the counties and police
officers of cities and towns.
§ 52-24.—Such investigators and temporary special police officers
shall be paid such compensation as may be allowed by the Governor, such
compensation to be paid from such moneys as shall be appropriated to the
Governor for the executive control of the State, and not otherwise specif-
ically appropriated.
