AN ACT to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered
52-4.2, to require that the Division of Motor Vehicles furnish certain in-
formation to the Department of State Police; to prescribe the use that
shall be made of such information; and to authorize the Department
of State Police to conduct certain experiments. 3 9e

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia be amended by adding a section numbered
52-4.2 as follows:
8 52-4.2. (a) The Division of Motor Vehicles shall promptly furnish
a copy of each accident report to the Department of State Police which
shall tabulate and analyze all accident reports and shall publish annually,
or more frequently, statistical information based thereon as to the number
and circumstances of traffic accidents.
(b) Based upon its findings, after analysis, the Department may con-
duct further necessary detailed research to determine more fully the cause,
control and prevention of highway accidents. It may further conduct
experimental field tests within areas of the State from time to time to
prove the practicability of various ideas advanced in traffic control and
accident prevention.
