An Act to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered
88.1-477.1, providing for the issuance of a policy of group life nsur-
ance upon certain voluntary association groups. [H 700]
Approved March 29, 1958
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia be amended by adding a section numbered
88.1-477.1, as follows:
§ 88.1-477.1. A policy of group life insurance may be issued, with or
without medical examination, covering not less than twenty-five members
of any voluntary association formed to encourage the reading of the Bible
in the public schools, provided such association charges initiation and dues
of members and provides for death benefits to the members of such associa-
tion. The policy shall be issued to the person occupying the post that would
correspond to the office of the president and the premiums shall be paid by
the members of the association or by the association as the policy may
provide. The policy shall insure a portion or all of the members of the
association for amounts of insurance payable upon some plan which shall
preclude individual selection, and for the benefit of persons other than the
officer holding the post corresponding to that of president. Not less than
seventy-five per centum of the members of such association or portion
thereof shall be so insured. The members of the association may obtain
additional insurance through such association, if they furnish evidence of
insurability satisfactory to the company.
