CHAPTER 494
An Act to require the State Library Board to erect an historical marker
to the twenty-seven unknown Confederate soldiers killed in the battle
of Haw’s Shop in Hanover County; and to appropriate funds.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. § 1. The State Library Board is hereby directed to have prepared and
erect prior to January one, nineteen hundred fifty-nine, as a memorial to
twenty-seven unknown Confederate soldiers killed in the battle of Haw’s
Shop on May twenty-seven, eighteen hundred sixty-four, and buried in
Enon Churchyard, Studley, Hanover County. Such marker shall be erected
at an appropriate location in or near Enon Churchyard in Hanover County.
There is hereby appropriated to the State Library Board out of the
general fund of the State treasury, a sum sufficient not exceeding three
hundred dollars, for the purposes set forth in this act.
