CHAPTER 453

An Act to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered 38.1-
349.1, to authorize the sale, under certain conditions, of accident air-
trip insurance by means of vending machines, and to authorize the
State Corporation Commission and the Commissioner of Insurance to
regulate and supervise such sales and to adopt rules and regulations

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia: ;

1. That the Code of Virginia be amended by adding a section numbered
38.1-349.1, as follows: .

§ 88.1-849.1. (a) Any insurance company qualified to do business
in this State and to write insurance of the kind to which this section ap-
plies may solicit applications for and issue policies of accident airtrip in-
surance by means of mechanical vending machines to be placed under
the supervision of a licensed agent in public airports, provided such
insurance company complies with all requirements for the conduct of such
business prescribed by the State Corporation Commission and the Com-
missioner of Insurance.

(b) In addition to, and without limiting the general powers of the
Commission to regulate and supervise insurance business in this State as
they may affect airtrip insurance business, the Commissioner of Insurance
shall establish reasonable rules and regulations for the types and locations
of mechanical machines authorized hereunder, their maintenance and re-
pair, and the methods of advertisement used in selling such insurance
policies through such mechanical devices.

(c) Any insurance company which fails to conform to the rules and
regulations established by the Commission or the Commissioner of Insur-
ance as required hereunder, shall be subject to the penalties and procedure
provided for in §§ 38.1-40 through 38.1-42 inclusive, of the Code of Vir-
ginia.
