CHAPTER 411

An Act to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered
21-112.21, to confer the power of eminent domain on watershed im-
provement districts, and to provide for the exercise of such power.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia be amended by adding a section numbered
21-112.21 as follows:

§ 21-112.21. In addition to any other powers conferred on it by law,
any watershed improvement district organized under the provisions of
this article shall be authorized and empowered ‘to acquire by the exercise
of the power of eminent domain any lands, property rights, franchises,
rights of way, easements or other property deemed necessary or con-
venient for the efficient operation of the district. Such proceedings shall
be in accordance with and subject to the provisions of the laws of the
Commonwealth applicable to the exercise of the power of eminent domain
in the name of a public service company; and subject to the provisions of
Chapters 1 and 5 of Title 25 of the Code of Virginia.
