AN ACT to amend and reenact §§ 46-395 and 46-396 of the Code of Vir-
ginia, relating, respectively, to the revocation of certain motor vehicle
licenses, registration certificates and registration plates, and to the
general penalty for violation of the provisions of Chapter 6 of Title 46
of the Code.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That §§ 46-395 and 46-396 of the Code of Virginia be amended and
reenacted as follows:
§ 46-395. Any person whose operator’s or chauffeur’s license or reg-
istration certificates or registration plates have been suspended or revoked
as provided in this chapter and have not been reinstated shall immediately
return every such license, registration certificate, and set of registration
plates held by him to the Commissioner. Any person wilfully failing to
comply with this requirement * shall be punished as provided in § 46-896.
The Commissioner is authorized to take possession of any license, reg-
istration certificate or set of registration plates upon their suspension or
revocation under the provisions of this chapter or to direct any police
officer to take possession of and return them to the office of the Com-
missioner.
§ 46-396. Any person who violates any provision of this chapter *
shall be punished by * confinement in jail for not more than ninety days or
by a fine of not less than * twenty dollars or more than one thousand
dollars or both.
