CHAPTER 284
An Act to amend and reenact § 15-789.7 as amended, of the Code of Vir-
ginia, which was enacted as § 1 of Chapter 882 of the Acts of As-
sembly of 1954, approved April 2, 1954, relating to notice to the
governing body required prior to the construction of sewerage sys-
tems and facilities or extensions thereof. CH 809]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That § 15-739.7 as amended, of the Code of Virginia, which was en-
acted as § 1 of Chapter 382 of the Acts of Assembly of 1954, approved
April 2, 1954, be amended and reenacted as follows:
§ 15-739.7. Any person, firm, corporation or association who or
which proposes to establish a sewerage system consisting of pipe lines or
conduits, pumping stations, force mains or sewage treatment plants, or
any of them, or any extension of any such existing systems, designed to
serve three or more connections, used for conducting or treating sewage,
as that term is defined in Chapter 2 (§ 62-10 et seq.) of Title 62 of the
Code of Virginia, to serve or to be capable of serving three or more con-
nections shall, at least sixty days prior to commencing construction
thereof, notify in writing the governing body of the county in which
such sewerage system is to be located and shall appear at a regular meet-
ing thereof and notify such governing body in person. In any county
having a population of more than 70,000 or adjoining a city having a popu-
lation of 280,000 or more, no extension of an existing system for the pur-
pose of serving three or more connections shall be made until a plan of
such proposed extension, with proof of capacity to serve, has been filed
with and permit for such extension has been obtained from the sanitation
engineer or other county official, if any, designated therefor by the board
of supervisors.
