AN ACT to amend and reenact §§ 58-665 and 58-666 of the Code of Vir-
ginia, relating to special revenue taxes imposed on motor vehicle
carriers of property and passengers.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That §§ 58-665 and 58-666 of the Code of Virginia be amended and
reenacted as follows:
§ 58-665. Each * common carrier of property by motor vehicle doing
business in this State shall pay to the State an additional annual State
tax equal to two-tenths of one per centum of its gross receipts from busi-
ness done within the State *.
§ 58-666. * Hach common carrier of passengers by motor vehicle
doing business in this State shall pay to the State an additional annual
State tax equal to two-tenths of one per centum of * its gross receipts from
* business done within * the State *. This section shall not apply to urban
and suburban bus lines which are hereby defined as bus lines the majority
of whose passengers use the buses for travelling a distance of not exceed-
ing forty miles measured one way, on the same day between their places
of abode and their places of work, shopping areas, or schools.
