CHAPTER 70

AN ACT to amend the Code of Virginia by adding thereto a section num-
bered 4-57.1, so as to prohibit conspiring to illegally manufacture and
bottle alcoholic beverages and to provide penalties for violations.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia be amended by adding thereto a section
numbered 4-57.1 as follows:

§ 4-57.1. If two or more persons shall conspire together to do any
act which is in violation of any provisions of § 4-57, and one or more of
such persons do any act to effect the object of the conspiracy, each of the
parties to such conspiracy shall be guilty of a felony and upon conviction
thereof be punished by confinement in the penitentiary for not less than
one year nor more than three years or, in the discretion of the court or
jury trying the case, by confinement in jail not less than six months nor
more than twelve months and a fine not exceeding one thousand dollars,
or both.
