CHAPTER 688
An Act to permit the release from confinement of certain offenders under
certain conditions, and the requiring from such persons payment of
moneys earned by them as reimbursement for expenditures for sup-
port of their dependents. [H 736]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. Any court having jurisdiction for the trial of a person charged with
a misdemeanor or charged with an offense under Chapter 5 of Title 20
of the Code of Virginia may, if defendant is convicted, and if it is made
to appear to the court that in the event of his being sentenced to con-
finement in jail his dependents may become public charges, may provide
in the sentence for the release of such person from confinement on the
days he is regularly employed under the supervision of a probation officer
or such other suitable person as the court may designate, and under such
conditions as it may fix, and require such person to pay such portion of
any money earned by him as the court may determine to the court to be
peed for the support and maintenance of dependents and payment of
nes, if any.
