An Act to amend and reenact § 46-805, as amended, of the Code of Vir-
ginta, relating to mufflers and exhaust pipes. CH 604]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia: ;

1. That § 46-805, as amended, of the Code of Virginia be amended
and reenacted as follows:

§ 46-305. No person shall drive a motor vehicle upon a highway
unless such motor vehicle is equipped with a muffler or mufflers in good
working order and in constant operation to prevent excessive or unusual
noise, annoying smoke and escape of excessive gas, steam or oil. A muffler
or mufflers shall not be deemed as preventing excessive or unusual noise if
it permits or allows the escape of noise in excess of that permitted by
the standard factory equipment muffler of private passenger motor veht-
cles or trucks of standard make. *
