forest products.
[H 540]
Approved March 31, 1956
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia be amended by adding a section numbered
58-396.1 as follows: i
§ 58-396.1. An annual license tax is hereby imposed upon every
supplier of pulpwood, veneer logs, mine props and railroad cross-ties, who
supplies the same to those suppliers who are taxed under the provisions
of § 58-417. Such license tax shall be in the amount of fifteen dollars for
the first ten thousand dollars in sales for the preceding year, and at the
rate of ten cents for each one hundred dollars in sales in excess of ten
thousand dollars. The license tax on every such supplier beginning busi-
ness shall be the initial tax above prescribed, plus a tax in accordance
with the foregoing rate on all sales above ten thousand dollars, which it
is estimated he will make from the time he begins business to the follow-
ing December thirty-first. This section shall not apply to the owner of the
land from which the forest products are cut nor to a producer, namely,
any person who cuts trees for pulpwood, veneer logs, mine props or rail-
road cross ties, nor to any person who converts such cut trees into such
forest products.
2. This act shall be effective January first, nineteen hundred fifty-seven.
