CHAPTER 566
An Act for the relief of Virginia-Carolina Broadcasting Corporation. 98]
Approved March 31, 1956
__. Whereas, Virginia Broadcasting Corporation, a Virginia corporation
with offices in the city of Roanoke, was chartered by the State Corpora-
tion Commission and assessments of fees and franchise taxes were made
against it from year to year; and
Whereas, Virginia-Carolina Broadcasting Corporation was chartered
by the State Corporation Commission, with its principal offices in Dan-
ville, and has done business since that time, being likewise charged with
fees and franchise taxes, and
Whereas, by mistake the State Corporation Commission sent the
assessment for fees and franchise taxes for the years 1948 through 1954,
inclusive, of Virginia Broadcasting Corporation to Virginia-Carolina
Broadcasting Corporation, which through error paid the same to the
Commonwealth in the amount of three hundred eighty-five dollars; and
Whereas the Commonwealth is not entitled to the moneys paid it by
Virginia-Carolina Broadcasting Corporation for fees and assessments
made against Virginia Broadcasting Corporation for the years 1948
through 1954, inclusive, and it is only proper that relief should be given;
now, therefore,
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. There is appropriated from the general fund of the State treasury
the sum of three hundred eighty-five dollars to be paid the Virginia-
Carolina Broadcasting Corporation by check of the State Treasurer is-
sued on warrant of the Comptroller drawn on vouchers signed by the
State Corporation Commission.
