Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

ernment or any agency thereof for the acquisition of or acquiring the con-
trol and management of the Lee Experimental Forest in Buckingham
County, Virginia. When the control and management thereof is trans-

of Forestry of the Department of Conservation and Development shall be
charged with the conduct of such research and the supervision and manage-
ment of such forest; provided, however, that whenever the Governor finds
that research might be facilitated thereby, he may, by executive order,
transfer to and vest in another department or agency of the State govern-
ment the duty of conducting such research under such conditions as he
may prescribe.
2. In order to provide for the conduct of research on the Lee Experi-
mental Forest there is hereby appropriated to the Division of Forestry
out of the general fund of the State treasury, the sum of six thousand
dollars for each year of the biennium beginning July 1, 1956; provided,
however, that if the Governor transfers the duty of conducting such re-
search to some other department or agency of the State government this
appropriation shall likewise be transferred thereto.
