An Act to require certain information on material concerning candidates
for public office and elections to prohibit certain acts and to provide

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. § 1. As used herein “writing” means any pamphlet, poster, card,
circular, book, dodger, handbill, or advertisement, picture, or any other
written, printed or otherwise reproduced statement exclusive of those
printed in newspapers. “Office” means any office in the government of the
State, or any county, city, town or district which is subject to being
filled by the voters in any of the foregoing and the office of the United
States Senator and Representative in the House of Representatives of
the Congress. “Candidates” means any person who has complied with the
requirements of law requisite to qualification for candidacy for such
office. “Person” means any person, firm, corporation, association, group, |
organization or any other entity, voluntary or otherwise.
_ § 2. It shall be unlawful for any person to cause other persons to
print or distribute or himself to print or distribute any writing concern-
ing any candidate for office unless such writing plainly identifies the
person responsible therefor.
§ 8. It shall be unlawful for any person to use a false or fictitious
Name or address on any such writing discribed in the preceding para-
ph.
§ 4. Any person violating any provision of this act shall be guilty
of a misdemeanor.
