An Act to amend and reenact § 8-1, as amended, of the Code of Virginia,
relating to appointment, qualification and terms of office for mem-
bers of the Board of Agriculture and Immigration. cH 121)

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That § 3-1, as amended, of the Code of Virginia be amended and
reenacted as follows:
§ 3-1. The Department of Agriculture and Immigration, in this title
sometimes referred to as the Department, shall be under the management
and control of the Board of Agriculture and Immigration, in this title
sometimes referred to as the Board, composed of one member from each
congressional district, who shall be a practical farmer, appointed by the
Governor for a term of four years, and confirmed by the Senate. The
president of the Virginia Polytechnic Institute, shall be ex officio a mem-
ber of the Board. No member of the Board, except the ex officio member,
shall be eligible for more than two successive terms; provided that per-
sons heretofore or hereafter appointed to fill vacancies may serve two
additional successive terms after the terms of the vacancies they were
appointed to fill have expired. Incumbency during the current term when
this amendment takes effect constitutes the first of the two successive
terms with respect to eligibility for appointment. All vacancies in the
membership of the Board shall be filled by the Governor for the unexpired
