CHAPTER 294

An Act to amend and reenact § 18 of Chapter IX of Chapter 157 of the
Acts of Assembly of 1908, approved March 10, 1908, as amended, which
provided a charter for the. city of Portsmouth, the amended section
relating to issue of warrants. [8 74]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That § 18 of Chapter IX of Chapter 157 of the Acts of Assembly of
ne approved March 10, 1908, as amended, be amended and reenacted as
ollows:

§ 13. Issue of warrants.

A warrant within the jurisdiction conferred by this chapter upon the
civil and police justice may be issued by any justice of the peace of his
city, * but when so issued it shall be returnable only before such civil and
police justice for trial and determination.

2. An emergency exists and this act is in force from its passage.
