CHAPTER 245
An Act to provide for the employment of assistants to the Common-
wealth’s Attorneys in certain counties, subject to the approval of the
Compensation Board, and to provide for their compensation.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. . Any county adjoining a city having a population in excess of
two hundred thousand or any county having a population in excess of fifty
thousand but not more than fifty-seven thousand may, with the approval
of the Compensation Board, provide for employing such assistant or
assistants to the Commonwealth’s Attorney as in the opinion of the gov-
erning body of the county may be required. Such assistant or assistants
shall be appointed by the Commonwealth’s Attorney subject to the ap-
proval of the governing body of the county. The compensation for such
assistants to the Commonwealth’s Attorneys shall be as provided for
assistants to Commonwealth’s Attorneys under § 14-66.
§ 2. This act shall not apply to any county having a population of
more than ninety-nine thousand but less than one hundred thirty thousand.
An emergency exists and this act is in force from its passage.
