CHAPTER 134
AN ACT to amend and reenact § 46-198 of the Code of Virginia, relating
to powers of cities and towns to regulate traffic therein. CH 409]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That § 46-198 of the Code of Virginia be amended and reenacted
as follows:
§ 46-198. In cities and towns the council may adopt ordinances to
regulate the operation of vehicles on the highways in such cities and
towns, as the case may be, not in conflict with the provisions of this title
and may provide penalties for violating the provisions of such ordinances.
But no penalty thus fixed shall be greater than the penalty imposed for
a similar offense under the provisions ‘of this title. Such ordinances may
provide that the provisions of a section in this title enumerated therein
shall be applicable within the limits of such city or town and such
reference shall be deemed to validly incorporate the provisions of such
section in such ordinance and such section shall be a part of such
inance.
