CHAPTER 102
An Act to amend and reenact § 15.08 of Chapter 562 of the Acts of
Assembly of 1954, approved April 6, 1954, which provided a charter
for the city of Galax, the section relating to duties of the city treas-
urer; and to further amend the chapter by adding a section numbered
2.02, relating to exercise of the power of eminent domain by the city.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That § 15.03 of Chapter 562 of the Acts of Assembly of 1954, ap-
proved April 6, 1954, be amended and reenacted, and that said chapter be
further amended by adding a section numbered 2.02, the new and amended
sections being as follows:
§ 2.02. In the exercise of the power of eminent domain conferred
by the preceding section, the city shall have and may exercise all the powers
conferred upon the State Highway Commissioner by Article 5 of Chap 1
of Title 38 of the Code; provided, that the certificate provided for by
§ 33-74 of the Code shall be issued by the city manager and countersigned
by the director of finance of the city; and, provided further that the pro-
visions of § 25-288 of the Code of Virginia shall apply to any property
owned by a corporation possessing the power of eminent domain that may
be sought to be taken by comdemnation under the provisions of this
section.
§ 15.03. The city treasurer shall * receive all * State revenues and
all revenues collected by the treasurer for the city shall be transferred to
the director of finance, who shall disburse same according to law.
2. An emergency exists and this act is in force from its passage.
