An Act to amend and reenact § 15-527 of the Code of Virginia, relating
to the appointment of county surveyors and to repeal § 15-526

thereof.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That § 15-527 of the Code of Virginia be amended and reenacted as

§ 15-527. * The governing body in each county * in the month of
November, nineteen hundred and * fifty-four, and every fourth year
thereafter, or whenever a vacancy occurs, shall appoint for * such county
* one county surveyor. * Such surveyors shall enter upon the duties of
their offices upon the first day of January next succeeding their appoint-
ment, and shall hold their offices for the term of four years, except that
in case of an appointment made to fill a vacancy, the term of office shall
commence as soon as the officer shall qualify, and shall continue for the
unexpired portion of the term of four years hereinbefore specified.
